What to do about this Camera Nikon D60?!?
Hey everyone. Let me explain the story before i ask the question.
I took a photography class last semester at school and I met a guy that works at a local camera shop. He told me that he could get me the Nikon D60 vr with 2 lenses for 600 buck. (he was using his employee discount) So i was super excited. i filled out the paperwork and faxed it in, and he got a phone call from the nikon rep Saying that since my name was on the credit card and not his name, they couldn’t process the order. The only way we could do this is if i give him 600 dollars cash. I really don’t know him that well so i’m really hesitant as to giving him that kind of money. What can I do so that I know he won’t take my money and run? I really want the camera and I don’t feel like spending 900 dollars at a retail store, when i knew i could get it for 600. If I make him sign some kind of contract what should it say? Ugh this is crazy annoying. Please help!

The scenario sounds like it could be a scam … have him by the camera and then turn over the money … If he cannot do that, then you may just have to pass. Since the lenses are your most important investment, you could go ahead and by a D40 with the dual lens kit and be done with it. Then in about four years or so, upgrade your camera body … you will still have the great lenses.
While the $300 savings is tempting, you don’t want to risk your money either.
