Can I temporarily store online customers credit cards to process on a offline terminal?

I have an online store that will be selling tobacco related products. It is very hard to get a credit card processor online for tobacco products. Since the website is for a hookah bar, I am looking to temporarily store orders on a database and then process them at night and delete the numbers once the card goes through. Is this legal?

No, you can’t store that kind of info anywhere. Think about it, when your asked “for security purposes, can you please tell me the LAST four digits of you SSN”. That’s because that’s all companies are allow to store.
